FAQ: Barn Dinners

Is there reserved seating at dinners?

Yes, we provide a seating chart for each dinner. If you’d like to sit with friends, simply let us know when registering, and we’ll do our best to seat you together.

Do you keep a waitlist for sold-out dinners?

Yes! If a dinner is sold out, please reach out to us to join the waitlist. Plans change, and we occasionally have unexpected openings.

What is the dress code for barn dinners?

Dinners are casual, so fancy attire is not required! Keep in mind there’s a short walk from the parking area to the barn, so choose comfortable footwear.

Is wine included with the dinners?

No, we don’t have a liquor license. However, you’re welcome to bring your own beverages. For those interested, we work with the wine manager at Gateway Market in Des Moines to recommend wine pairings for each course. These suggestions will be emailed to guests 1–2 weeks before the dinner.

Do you accommodate dietary preferences?

If you have specific dietary needs, please contact us before registering for a dinner to discuss your request. While we do our best to accommodate most preferences, we cannot guarantee that all requests can be met. The chef will review your needs, and accommodations may involve omitting certain ingredients rather than providing a full substitution.

Do you offer refunds if plans change?

Unfortunately, we don’t offer refunds. However, you’re welcome to transfer your reservation to someone else—just let us know their name in advance.

FAQ: Accessibility & Amenities

Is the barn wheelchair accessible?

The barn itself is wheelchair accessible, but there is a grassy slope leading down to it. Guests with mobility challenges are welcome to use our driveway for drop-off and closer access, rather than parking in the lot next door.

What is the parking situation?

Parking for our events is available at the property directly west of us at 1578 North River Trail. From there, it’s a short walk to the barn, and signs will be posted to help guide you.

Is the barn heated or cooled?

The barn is enclosed but not heated or air-conditioned. We provide fans for warm weather, and there’s usually a nice breeze through the barn. For cooler evenings, we have portable heaters, but we also recommend bringing an extra layer of clothing to stay comfortable.

FAQ: Event Rentals & Photo Shoots

Do you rent the barn for weddings?

We’re sorry, but we only host weddings in the barn for close friends and family.

Do you rent the barn for private events?

Yes, we occasionally rent the barn for private events. Please contact us for more details and availability.

Can photographers use the property for photo shoots?

If you’re interested in using our property for a photography shoot, we’d love to hear about your ideas. We accommodate photoshoots on a very limited basis, but we’re open to discussing your vision. Rates are $100 for the first hour and $50 for each additional 30 minutes. Please reach out to share your details, and we’ll let you know if it’s a good fit!
